The Story Behind Our First Bloom Book

Yes Yippee! You Are Just Like Me was written from a place of deep joy and gentle intention. As I wrote this short poem, I imagined a world where children feel celebrated not for fitting in, but for simply being who they are. I wanted the words to feel light and playful, while still holding something meaningful, something that reminds each child they belong, exactly as they are.

At its heart, this story is about connection. It recognizes that while we may look different, learn differently, or experience the world in our own unique ways, there is so much that ties us together. Curiosity, creativity, kindness, courage: these are the quiet threads that connect us all. My hope is that as children read these pages, they see pieces of themselves reflected back with joy and affirmation.

This book is also the first Bloom Book under Water Their Flowers, a developing initiative rooted in the belief that every child is fearfully and wonderfully made. It marks the beginning of a larger vision, to use creativity as a way to celebrate children of all abilities and to cultivate spaces where they feel seen, valued, and supported. This is just the first bloom, and I’m so grateful you’re here to watch it grow.
